About About Us
Kay Bridal Shop, located in Wauwatosa WI, has been helping Milwaukee area brides and their families plan their weddings for over 50 years. Owned by Lisa Randazzo-Clark (who grew up in Milwaukee just blocks away) and her husband Benjamin Clark, the shop features bridal gowns from numerous manufacturers, bridesmaids’ dresses, and accessories to complete the ensemble.
Kay Bridal Shop was originally established in Milwaukee by Fred Klitsner in 1957. In 1963 the store was bought by Gladys Peterson, who moved it from Milwaukee to Wauwatosa and operated it until her death in 2005. Lisa bought her own wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses at the shop in 2002, finding it to be a bit of a blast from the past...intimate and personable. When she learned of the shop’s availability in 2006 she and her husband decided to purchase the business, remodel and continue to run the shop, building upon the exceptional reputation of the previous owners. Every young girl dreams of the day that she will walk down the aisle a princess on her wedding day. Lisa's goal is to make that dream come to reality in the least stressful, most pleasant way possible.
Future brides visiting the store can expect to see classic, contemporary and trendy styles, as well as gowns to fit every figure type, venue or budget. The shop currently carries more than 150 orderable bridal gowns, with new styles entering the store every Spring and Fall, as well as a variety of discontinued sample dresses …for those with smaller budgets or brides with little time to order.
Feel free to give us a call and schedule a visit for some personalized attention.
FAQ What To Expect
1. Call or email for an appointment during our business hours Tuesday through Saturday. An appointment will allow for the most personalized service we can provide.
2. During your appointment our bridal gown portfolio is available for your perusal and our friendly staff will assist you in trying on as many dresses as you choose from the portfolio. We have just one sample size of each dress style in our store but we can special order any dress in the size and color offered by the manufacturer as long as the dress has not been discontinued. The average delivery time of special order dresses is approximately 16 weeks. Rush cuts and super rush cuts between 8 and 12 weeks are often available at an additional cost.
3. Upon selecting a special order dress, we will take your measurements to help in ordering the appropriate size. We measure the largest part the bust, the smallest part of the waist and the largest part of the hips, along with a "hollow to hem" measurement when necessary. A hollow to hem measurement is done by measuring from the hollow of your neck to the hem of the garment to determine if extra length is needed or to pre-determine a hem measurement to be performed by the manufacturer offering that service. This service is only offered for bridal gowns and there is and additional charge for this service. After checking the manufacturer's sizing chart, we are happy to recommend a dress size to be ordered, but of course, the final dress size is your decision to make.
4 Once your dress size and color have been determined your dress is now ready to be ordered! We will require a 50% deposit to place the order for your bridal dress and the full balance for bridesmaids, headpieces, undergarments and/or jewelry. Upon receipt of the half or full deposit, your order will be placed with the manufacturer and we will be given an approximate ship date. This is the approximate date that the dress is to be shipped from the manufacturer to our store. It could take up to two weeks from the approximate ship date to arrive at our store if the dress is not delayed.
5. Your dress arrives at the store! A courtesy call is immediately placed to let you know that your dress has arrived. At this time we would like you to schedule an appointment to come in to the store to try on your dress within 5 business days. You should plan to pay for the balance on your dress in full at this time.
6. Often alterations are needed on the hem or to take the bust, waist, and/or hips in to make a perfect fit. If alterations are required for that perfect fit and you would like to have this service done via our referral, we will provide you with the name and phone number of our taylor/seamstress. You may then give her a call to get aquainted and recieve information regarding her services, scheduling and pricing. Early scheduling, approximately 3 months prior to the event, will ensure convenient appointments for you and timely fittings. In addition, the undergarments and shoes you choose to wear with your gown will be required for your fittings.
7. You are now on your way!

Why Us WHY DO WE USE IT?
It can be difficult to grasp the style of a bridal gown simply by viewing it on a hanger. It can also be frustrating sharing the racks with other brides, friends, family members and staff while attempting to make suitable choices. Looking through the portfolio brings family and friends together in a relaxed and calming manner, allowing the bride to choose gowns that most accurately reflect her personal style. Furthermore, if she chooses to purchase her dress off the rack she will certainly appreciate the like new condition of our sample gowns. And most importantly, by choosing her dresses from the portfolio, she is virtually guaranteed that her dream dress isnt sitting in another fitting room…never to be seen by her.
WHAT IS A PORTFOLIO?
Your experience at Kay Bridal Shop begins with a smile, a friendly greeting and a relaxing browse through our portfolio of bridal gowns. That is to say, an album of photos of each and every bridal gown we carry as a sample, as well as its price and size. This is one of the most evident ways we set ourselves apart from other bridal shops. The bride chooses the gowns that most intrigue her from the portfolio and her consultant pulls them for her. The positive feedback from our brides since we created our portfolio has been tremendous…and we think that you will love it too.
